Hoppy Easter

Another Easter season brings with it the challenge of how to up our game from last year's spring time fun.

Ever since my son was old enough to remember, our egg hunts have been interactive involving clues and riddles.

When Steve and I got married in 2012 he was happy to join in the fun and for our first Easter together we videotaped Mission Impossible type messages with challenges for the boys ... "Should they choose to accept it".  It was great fun but by February/March of last year they were already asking us what the new theme was so the challenge was on.

Last year we piggybacked off of the Amazing Race idea and planned challenges and clues that took us to various locations. Needless to say it was great fun ~ but perhaps a little too great. Seriously, how do you top that?

While brain storming (ok, ok ... While on Pinterest) I saw a bunch of Minute to Win It party games and I knew we had a winner!  We picked six different games and the boys were great sports through it all!  Check it out ....

I wonder if they will ever outgrow our Easter Challenges?!? I'm hoping not ;)

Go WINGS Go

@ZacMc7 and I zipped down to Toronto on Saturday to see the Leafs take on my Detroit Red Wings and it was AWESOME!!!

I managed to convert the boy to a Wings fan ... At least for the day, if not for good! We weren't the only puck fans sporting the ol' Red & White so there was definite strength in numbers! Nothing quite like an old time Original 6 rivalry to get the crowd going.

I risked getting rolled to pose for a quick anti-Leaf pic in front of the ACC ~ Zac wasn't keen on being associated to me but I reminded him that we didn't know anyone!

We spent the warm up behind the Wings net and loved every second of it ....

I have to say the Leaf fans were rockin the ACC ... But man do they turn on their team when the scoreboard is not in their favour! Leaf fans love hard & hate hard!!!

All in all it was a great mother/son weekend for the memory books :)

Change of Season

Spring time generally brings warmer weather and an end to the hockey season ... This year with the snow still hanging in it's hard to to see the boy off the ice and an end of @ZacMc7's Major Peewee year.

The GK Major Peewees (2001) had a great season with many improvements making it into the OMHA Playoffs for the first time.  The boys continue to impress as they develop ... Looking forward to next year already!

The name bars and sponsor bars may be off the jerseys but Minor Bantam is just around the corner, tryouts in April coupled with two Spring Hockey teams means this hockey mom won't be out of the rink for long!

And I wouldn't have it any other way!

On the IR List

That's what they call it in hockey right??? The Injured Reserves List???

Well whatever it's called the boy is still on it.  After a potential wrist fracture two weekends ago with an xray and cast, plus a Cat Scan last night, now we await the doc appointment this Thursday to get some conclusive feedback.  Either the cast comes off and he's good to go working back towards 100% ... or a new cast goes on and this waiting game continues.

It's been tough for the boy to not be practicing with the team, he managed one skate before a doc officially said to stay off the ice ... If he doesn't listen to Mom at least he listens to the professionals :)

Off ice training has certainly been ramped up these past two weeks to stay in shape as he awaits the go ahead to skate again.  Spin & Core work at the gym coupled with running stairs/dryland at the rink while his team mates are sweating on the ice has been keeping @ZacMc7 in check.

You really start to see how passionate one is when you take away what feeds their drive. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery!!

Love you Bud!
